Trojan Horse Removal London

June 20th, 2009

Sadly if you are an internet user then you are bound to pick up a virus along the way unfortunately. Whilst most of us have become a lot wiser to those unexpected e-cards from a pal, or the message from an eBay user messages the instigators of these viruses have found newer ways to get access to your system.

Hackers are finding ways to get into peoples web sites and plant script and software downloads on unsuspecting sites, the first time a site owner may know they have a problem is when they spot the “this site may harm your computer” warning in the Google index.

To the end user though it may be to late and if they are unlucky they may have had a Trojan downloaded onto their computer or worse still a Trojan dropper ( a program that will keep downloading different Trojans) so if you remove one a little later another appears.

Even if you have the most up to data anti virus protection on your system don’t think you are immune as virus and Trojans are deliberately “changed” to avoid detection and often it is a later update that will spot the infection which is why it is important to keep your antivirus defences updated at all times.

If you have an infection on your system and need it removed give us a call.

Computer Overheating?

June 19th, 2009

With the summer on the way (and hopefully this year will be nice and warm) its time to look at your computer and perhaps give it a good internal clean.

Even in the cleanest environment computers do draw in a lot of dust and over time this dust starts to clog up your PC. Over time your processor heatsink will gradually get totally clogged as will the graphics card fan.

Summer tends to see the most problems with hardware failures as the combination of dust and the increase in ambient temperatures cause the internal temperature of your computer to rise well above normal levels, which in turn puts a strain on system components that lead to failure.

One of the worse components that is affected by the heat is of course your computers hard drive and an increase in temperature can cause hard drive degradation and subsequently data loss requiring data recovery.

If your computer has not been cleaned for quite a while or is starting to get hot already we’ll be able to carry out some computer maintenance on your PC to ensure you stand less chance of your system overheating in the warmer summer months.

Usb Data Recovery and Flash Drive Recovery

June 19th, 2009

USB drives and memory sticks are excellent examples of technology that has gone mainstream.  They are designed to take more than the odd knock (where do you keep yours?) and in a lot of cases are quite robust and forgiving.  My own drive is stuck on my keyring and frequently bangs into other objects in my day to day activities, but then unlike many people I use it mostly as mobile temporary storage or for software utilities and drivers so I tend to keep very little important original data on it.

Because of the increasingly large capacities of USB drives most users simply load up their drives with important files and folders and then somply forget about them so they are not even backed up so when a flash stick does break or the memory controller fails they are pretty much stuck with no access to their important data. This is particularly true with the student community who often store months of course work on their flash drives si if the drive fails they tend to have a major headache they could do without.

Fortunately USB data recovery is available so even if you crushed your drive, washed it or even snapped it in two provided the main memory chips have not suffered from any damage data can be recovered with high success rates.

If you need USB data recovery in the London area give our data recovery hotline a call.

File Data Recovery London

June 18th, 2009

The very first time you ever suffer from a hard drive failure really can be a very distressing time initiially especially if the data is very important but on the plus side once you have managed to get your data back you will understand the importance of making sure you have some form of data backup in place in case it ever happens again.

Everybodies files and folders will all have their own unique value and what to one person may seem vitally important to another will have little value. For some important data could be be cherished memories in the form of digital photography and for others it may be household documents or even essential business data.

For businesses however the value of data is far more important at data loss could include thousands of hours of work or even client records, some of which need to be kept for many years by law.

Even if your hard drive fails either in an individual computer or in a raid array file server there is in most cases a good chance of recovering some and quite often all of your files but there are some very important aspects to consider before any attempted recovery one of which is the recovery methodology used.

Commercial history shows that non expert attempts at data recovery often just using software often cause further and sometimes total data loss so if your data is valuable it is far better to use a specialist data recovery company as we have cutting edge technology and are capable of much deeper levels of data recovery and computer forensics as well as hard drive repair if required.

If you do decide to try a do it yourself approach then be prepared to lose valuable data, thats not saying you will but the chances are much much greater.

Disaster Recovery Planning and Testing

June 17th, 2009

Modern servers are often the backbone of your IT infrastructure and if you run into a serious problem your business could stop so server and raid server disaster recovery planning and business continuity planning is something that every business manager or owner should take very seriously indeed.

Unforseen problems and data loss issues invariably cause business downtime of some description so your internal IT support person or team should be prepared for a certain amount of disruption, but they should also be  aiming to achieve the quickest possible resolution to any data loss issues, whilst at the same time maintaining the highest percentage of availability across the network.

Online server backup and remote data backup solutions are an excellent way to ensure your business gets back on its feet as soon as possible because if you do have a server failure critical business data can be quickly retrieved from your remote data centre or on site redundant file store.

Testing of your business continuity plan is also critical and often overlooked, this should also be done periodically to ensure your strategy is robust and the implementation plan is effective. Correct planning, implementation and testing should eradicate the need for costly and unexpected disaster recovery or data recovery in the event of critical data loss.
